If you look up the word pitch in the dictionary, it says
to present or advertise especially in a high-pressure way; plug, promote; to attempt to persuade
I came across this article that explains the importance of listening. Steve Yastrow, author of the book Ditch the Pitch, is quoted:
To be a better persuader, you need to be an active listener and ask questions to determine what a person cares about right now. You should show that you care then craft your pitch around how you can help solve a problem or achieve a goal for the person
The best sales pitches are the ones when your client does all the talking and you do all the listening.
